Needless to say, we were a little surprised Tuesday night when Jack made it known that he would be making his grand appearance three (or four) weeks early. Newman was in California training so I called him to let him know so he could start his journey home. Next call was my mom followed by Aurora who put the call in to Catherine and Heather. We were on our way! After many phone calls to and from Newman (still desperately trying to get home) and some distractions from my wonderful friends in the labor and delivery room Jack was born on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 12:20 in the afternoon.
Newman had quite a time getting home. He got a ride from the field to 29 Palms and then to Palm Springs where he then flew to Denver, to Charlotte, and to Wilmington where he rented a car and drove to Jacksonville. He had already won father of the year before he even made it to the hospital to meet Jack. He worked so hard to get here, but it was all worth it when he got to see his son.
BOW WOWS!!! Little Jack is the most handsome little boy! Holding him in my arms makes realize again how wonderful it is to be a grandmom - our first grandson. And maybe the parents didn't say, but Jack is named for his paternal great grandfathers. My Dad, John, would have been so pleased and proud. Newman and Cindy are amazing parents already - enjoying every moment even from birth.
